The girl from Hyderabad became the first ever Indian women's singles player to win a medal at the World Championships. Rio Games will be Sindhu’s first Olympic appearance and she will try to leave a mark in the games. In 2014 Asian and Commonwealth Games she won bronze medals in team events.
In January, Sindhu won the Malaysia Masters Grand Prix Gold women’s singles title after beating Scotland's Kirsty Gilmour in the finals. Finishing within top-16 among women's singles players she qualified for Rio Games.
