Rio Olympics 2016: Usain Bolt makes history by winning three successive 200m races, may not run again

The fastest man on earth Usain Bolt has once again created history by winning 200 metres race at Rio Olympics 2016 in 19.78 seconds. Andre de Grasse, the young pretender from Canada, was a distant second.

This win has made Bolt the only man to win the 200m race at three successive Olympics. 

To put Bolt’s greatness in perspective, no male athlete before him had won the sprint double at Olympic Games or World Championships more than once. Bolt, staggeringly, has now done so six times. 

Should he anchor the Jamaican quartet to victory in tomorrow night’s 4x100 metres final, which the form suggests that he will as surely as night follows day, an ­almost fantastical triple-triple of ­Olympic sprint titles will be his.

But this may be his last individual race on Olympics stage as the athlete has expressed desire to retirement after 2016 Rio Olympics. 

Interestingly, Bolt will turn 30-years-old on the day of the Summer Olympics' closing ceremony, so it may also be treated as one big retirement party for arguably the greatest sprinter of all-time.
