New Delhi:

Kidambi Srikanth defeated fellow Indian B Sai Praneeth in the men's singles quarterfinals of the Australian Open on Friday. Srikanth was locked in tough battle in the opening game but managed to edge past Praneeth. Praneeth produced to save three game points but Srikanth eventually seal the game 25-23. In the second game, Praneeth took a lead at the halfway stage but Srikanth came back strongly to finish the game 21-17.

Srikanth will play the winner of Shi Y and Vittinghus H K. Kidambi Srikanth had earlier stunned World Number One Son Wan Ho to reach the last eight of the tournament.
