Ace Indian gymnast Dipa Karmakar, who garnered praise from all quarters owing to her stupendous performance at the 2016 Rio Olympics, cleared the air on the BMW controversy on Thursday, saying she can never think of returning a gift from master blaster Sachin Tendulkar.
“Getting any gift from Sachin sir is a big thing. Can't even think of returning it: Gymnast Dipa Karmakar on BMW controversy,†she said.
She said she only spoke about the possibility owing to the unavailability of any showroom or service centre in Agartala.
“No return or refusal, just that there is no showroom, service centre of BMW in Agartala, so I was talking about a possibility,†she added.
On Wednesday, media reports said that the Indian gymnast who narrowly missed out on a bronze medal in her pet vault category in Rio, is now returning a BMW car that she received as a present from Sachin Tendulkar in September.
