BWF World Badminton Championships: PV Sindhu defeats Sun Yu to seal semifinal berth, assures herself of bronze medal

Rio Olympic silver medalist PV Sindhu defeated Chinese shuttler Sun Yu to seal a place in the semifinal of the women’s singles at the BWF World Championships on Friday. Sindhu trounced her Chinese opponent 21-14, 21-9 in just 39 minutes.

Rio Olympic silver medalist PV Sindhu defeated Chinese shuttler Sun Yu  to seal a place in the semifinal of the women’s singles at the BWF World Championships on Friday. Sindhu trounced her Chinese opponent 21-14, 21-9 in just 39 minutes.

Earlier on Friday, Kidambi Srikanth campaign at the World Championships ended after he was beaten by top seed Son Wan Ho in the men’s singles quarterfinals. In the women's section all eyes shall now be on  Saina Nehwal as she will be taking Scotland's Kirsty Gilmour in the last eight for a place in the semi-finals of the women's singles events. London Olympics bronze medallist Saina, who had won silver in the last edition stunned World No.3 Korean Sung Ji Hyun 21-19, 21-15 in the pre-quarterfinals.
