Denmark's Viktor Axelsen decimated defending champion Chen Long 21-9, 21-10 to becomes the first Dane in 16 years to reach the finals of the World Badminton Championships.

The Olympic bronze medallist never gave Long a chance to get into the match, winning 11 consecutive points against the Olympic gold medallist The match turned out to be a one sided affair with the Dane dominating proceedings from start till end.

Axelsen was too good on the day for his much fancied Chinese opponent, clinching the semifinal tie in straight games. Axelsen shall now await the winner of the other semifinal between Chinese great Lin Dan and South Korea's Son Wan Ho.
