Skipper of the Indian cricket team Virat Kohli and World Champion weightlifter Mirabai Chanu are set to be awarded the illustrious Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna on Tuesday (September 25) at the Rashtrapati Bhawan in Delhi. Whereas javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra and Table Tennis star Manika Batra are among the top athletes to be on the elite list of Arjuna Award winners. All the awardees will be honoured by President Ram Nath Kovind. Prez Koving will also present the Dhyan Chand Awards and Dronacharya Awards.

Virat Kohli – world’s No.1 batsmen in both ODI and Test cricket as per the ICC rankings has been putting scintillating performances consistently since the last couple of years. The 29-year old missed out on the top sports award following consecutive nominations in 2016 and 2017. The swashbuckling batsman have smashed 6147 runs in 71 Tests with 23 centuries and 9779 runs in 211 ODIs, including 35 tons.
Whereas, second awardee Mirabai Chanu was selected for Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna after she clinched the Gold medal in the 48kg category at the World Championship in 2017 and 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games. However, she missed out from the Asian Games following an injury.
