E-auction of gifts received by PM Modi continues, Avani's T-shirt bid in lakhs

Avani Lekhara’s bright, white coloured t-shirt, that she gifted Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his birthday is ready for the auction on the website https://pmmementos.gov.in/ at the base price of Rs. 15,00,000. Avani’s t-shirt auction started on 17-Sep-2021, 06:55 pm and will end by 07-Oct-2021, 05:00 pm. Avani Lekhara, who was confined to a wheelchair after an accident at the age of 11 in 2012, started shooting as a hobby in 2015. The 19-year-old shooter from Jaipur, Rajasthan had also finished with a world record.

In this way you can simply buy Avani’s t-shirt. Avani Lekhara created history by winning a Gold medal in 10m air rifle standing and a Bronze medal in 50m air rifle standing at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.

The area below the collar of the t-shirt contains gradients of green and orange. Below, there is a logo of the Paralympic Committee of India along with the Indian national flag. The central portion contains the signature of Avani Lekhara and the backside of the t-shirt has the word INDIA printed in white colour. This autographed t-shirt was presented by Avani Lekhara to the Prime Minister of India.

In an interview she said that Abhinav Bindra’s autobiography ‘A Shot at History’ inspired her to take up shooting as a career. Avani’s achievement brought her to the place of second Indian to win multiple medals at the same Paralympics after Joginder Singh Sodhi, who won three medals at the 1984 Games.

Earlier on Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on twitter urged people to take part in the auction of several gifts and mementoes that he has received over the years. He also added that the proceeds would go to the ‘Namami Gange’ initiative.
