The Indian doubles pair of Sikki Reddy and Pranaav Chopra caused a major upset in the Japan Open by defeating Korea's Kim Ha Na and Seung Jae in the quarterfinals of the men's doubles on Friday.

The unseeded pair won the encounter in three closely fought games 21-18, 9-21, 21-19 in 58 minutes. It was a moment of reckoning for the Indian pair as they made it to their maiden Super Series final. Earlier on Friday, HS Prannoy lost to China's Shi Yuqi in the men's singles quarterfinals.

India's Kidambi Srikanth shall be locking horns with Denmark's Victor Axelsen in the men's singles quarters later on Friday.
