Star shuttler Kidambi Srikanth on Sunday defeated Japan’s Kenta Nishimoto 21-14, 21-13 to win the French Open Super Series men’s singles title.
The 24-year-old Indian dominated throughout the entire match and didn’t let Nishimoto to settle down. Srikanth won the first set by 21-14 and improved in the second set with 21-13.
It was Srikanth’s 4th Super Series title of the year after winning Australian Open, Denmark Open and Indonesian Open Super Series.
Srikanth became the first Indian man to win the French Open title. Srikanth also become only the fourth male to win four Super Series titles in a calendar year.
The Badminton Association of India has announced reward of Rs 5 Lakh to Kidambi Srikanth following his French Open Super Series win.
Srikanth is leading the rankings for booking a place in the Dubai Super Series final.
