Japanese star shuttler Nozomi Okuhara defeated India's PV Sindhu in a thriller women’s singles final of the BWF World Badminton Championships in Glasgow. Sindhu won Silver medal. It was a very close contest and went down to three games.
Okuhara started on a positive note and won the first game by 21-19 but Sindhu fought back hard and won the second set by 22-20.
In the third penultimate game, Japanese Shuttler took early four point lead with score 5-1. But Sindhu again came back strongly and was leading 19-17. Nozomi then accelerated her game and took the Championship point at 21-20.
With her last point, Japan's Okuhara won the third game by22-20 and the Championship Gold by 21-19, 20-22 and 22-20.
Earlier, Nozomi Okuhara stormed into the finals after defeating another Indian Shuttler Shaina Nehwal 12-21, 21-17, 21-10. After losing first round, Nozomi fought back hard and dominated the next two sets to crash Nehwal's golden dream.
Okuhara defeated Carolina Marin, Saina Nehwal and PV Sindhu in a row to clinch the title.
