The Noida Authority is gearing up for the new indoor stadium that is currently under construction near the Noida Stadium. The new stadium is located in Sector 21, was started in last year February. According to officials, the stadium would be ready and open to public use by August 2016.
The stadium stands four storeyed tall in an area of 3700 sq. meters. The size of the arena is estimated to be around 56.5m x 43.5m with a 1.5 meter wide safe space around it.
The Chief Project Engineer, AK Goyal says, “we are almost halfway through the construction of the stadium. It is being built to the capacity of holding 4000 spectators. The stadium will also be to equipped with a single level parking in the basement and barrier free access for the physically challenged people.”
The indoor stadium is designed to have various fields and courts for sports and other recreational activities. Eight Badminton courts, fourteen Table-Tennis arenas, two fields each for Basketball and Handball along with a field for Volleyball is planned for construction. Additionally, the stadium will also have courts for Gymnastics, Judo, Fencing, Boxing, Weight Lifting and Taekwondo.
Since the Noida Stadium is already a hub for all sports and recreational activities, the addition of an indoor stadium is bound to increase public enthusiasm and participation.
