Manjeet Chhillar became the costliest Kabaddi player after Abhishek Bachchan-owned Jaiput Pink Panther picked him for a staggering Rs 75.5 lakh at the Pro Kabaddi League auction held on Monday. Manjeet was an important member of India's World Cup-winning squad and was associated with Puneri Paltan frenchisee in season 3 and 4.

The fifth auction of players for the league are being held in Delhi on Monday and Tuesday. In this year's auction, owners of 12 franchisees, including four new teams, are participating with a kitty of Rs 4 crore. Players fall under eight categories, with base price ranging from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 35 lakh.

With the older 8 teams allowed to retain only 1 player, plenty of big changes are expected during the auction. The league has also got mobile phone maker Vivo as the title sponsor for five years ahead of the season five in July.
