The Table Tennis Federation of India on Friday recommended country’s only quadruple medallist at the 2018 Gold Coast Games, Manika Batra for the prestigious Arjuna Award.
"We sent her nomination today. With such a strong performance in Gold Coast, it will be very difficult for the (government) committee to ignore her," a TTFI official said.
Batra created history in the Gold Cost Games, driving India to maiden team gold as well as by winning single’s gold.
The whole country has been praising India’s new poster girl for her heroics, including India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The 22-year-old won four medals in the Commonwealth Games, including twin historic golds in singles and team events and silver in women’s doubles event and bronze in mixed.
