The sports fraternity is getting ready for much-awaited Rio Olympic is August. More than 10,500 athletes from 206 National Olympic Committees will take part in the mega event. It will be a sports extravaganza for 16 days.
Every country participating in the mega event have finished their preparations, however Indian wrestlers are still fighting for available spot not with other country but among themselves. Two time’s Olympic medallist Sushil Kumar and Commonwealth champion Narsingh Yadav are in a tussle for 74kg category.
The ongoing debate between Sushil Kumar or Narsingh Yadav for Rio games is yet to reach its destination. Narsingh earned his ticket for the Rio by winning a bronze medal at the World Wrestling Championships in Las Vegas last year.
Earlier, Sushil competed in the 66 kg category, but had to switch to 74 kg after international wrestling federation decided to merge both of them in 2013.
Both the wrestlers can’t be deprived off the spot as Narsingh earned his spot and Sushil is the only Indian to have won two medals at the World’s biggest stage.
Today Sushil Kumar wrote a letter to PM Narendra Modi and Sports minister Sarbananda Sonowal to interfere in the case and asked for trial before finalising the contender.
Earlier, Sonowal denied to interfere in the case asking the federation to resolve the issue.
Is such things happen just before the Rio games then how can we expect medals. In a 125 billion population are not skilled enough to get more than 10 medals.
