New Delhi:

SmackDown and the WWE have entered a new era. For the first time, SmackDown was telecast on FOX Network and on Friday at the Staples Centre in Los Angeles, the first ever episode of Friday Night SmackDown on Fox was telecast. There was a title change, a firing but stars outside of the WWE, mostly in MMA and Boxing, stole the attention on what was a magnificent debut for WWE SmackDown on Fox. The major change was Brock Lesnar once again becoming the WWE Champion and that too in just five seconds against Kofi Kingston, who was the champion since Wrestlemania in April 2019.

This was Lesnar's first match on Smackdown after 15 years but the match lasted all of five seconds. Kingston charged but Lesnar, nicknamed 'The Beast', hit Kingston with an F5 and earned the three count to be crowned the new WWE Champion. However, there was a surprise waiting for Lesnar. Rey Mysterio's music blared out in the arena but he was attacked by UFC heavyweight Cain Velasquez.
Velasquez and Lesnar have a history that goes back to 2010 when Velasquez, 37, defeated Lesnar in dominant fashion at UFC 121 in October that year via first-round TKO to end the latter's heavyweight championship reign after just two successful title defenses. Mysterio raised Velasquez's hand and there might be a new storyline brewing and it could involve Lesnar and Velasquez.

Mysterio and his son Dominique were brutally attacked by Lesnar on Monday Night Raw and the former champion might still be in the fray to challenge Lesnar in the near future.
