TCS World 10k 2017 kicks off in Bengaluru

The 10th edition of the TCS World 10K Run kicked off on Sunday in Bengaluru and once again, it has attracted the best runners from all across the world including Mosinet Geremew‬, ‪Leonard Patrick Komon‬ and Irene Chepet Cheptai.

The 10th edition of the TCS World 10K Run kicked off on Sunday in Bengaluru and once again, it has attracted the best runners from all across the world including Mosinet Geremew‬, ‪Leonard Patrick Komon‬ and Irene Chepet Cheptai.

Geremew was the 2015 and 2016 men’s champion but this time he will have to face tough competition from Komon of Kenya. Komon was the 10km and 15km world record holder.

As far as women are concerned, all the top contenders are from Kenya including Irene Cheptai, Gladys Chesir and Helah Kiprop. One can expect a great race this year as well but this time the runners will also have to face humidity and heat of Bengaluru.

Top Indian athletes have also taken part in the World 10K run. With an eye on the Rs 2,50,000 individual prize money, headlining the elite race amongst the Indian athletes will be half marathon champion at Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon 2017, Monika Athare, and Tata Kolkata 25K 2016 winner MD Yunus.

Another experienced TCS World 10K campaigner and last year’s runner-up Suresh Patel has also taken part in the competition.
