The Rakshak Brand Hockey Stick of the Indian Women Hockey team was presented to Prime Minister Nrendra Modi on his 71st birthday by the Indian Women Hockey Team. The blue coloured hockey stick includes a logo named Rakshak written in white, with the model number Rani 28, which directly points to Rani Rampal, captain of the Women Hockey Team of India. The signatures of the entire Indian hockey team run along the body of the hockey stick. The stick has been selected for the auction at the base price Rs. 80,00,000.
The Ministry has announced a website: https:/pmmementos.gov.in from where persons/organisations can participate in the e-Auction. Rani Rampal, Indian Women Hockey Team Captain was just 14 when she made her international debut. She began playing hockey at the age of six with a broken stick. Despite her poverty-stricken childhood, Rani remained focused. She convinced her parents to let her play hockey. At present, she’s a junior world cup bronze medallist, two-time Asian Games medallist and an integral part of the Indian team which, for the first time in history, qualified for successive Olympics.

Following the men’s team’s bronze medal triumph in Tokyo, the women’s team’s fourth place finish will be a morale-booster. Infact, at the Tokyo Olympics, India is one of the seven countries whose both women’s and men’s teams reached the knockout stages.
