WWE hosted its annual Hall of Fame ceremony in Friday, April 6 at New Orleans, where the world largest professional wrestling promotion inducted veteran superstars from their contribution to wrestling.

The company inducted well known Indian wrestler Dara Singh in the WWE Hall of Fame class of 2018. The legendary ‘Pehelwan’ was a popular name in the wrestling circuit in the 1940s to 80s when he took on several international stars.

Dara competed in the eastern hemisphere and won the Commonwealth Championship and other titles in Singapore and India. The powerful wrestler who boasted a 53-inch wide chest fought against the likes of Rikidōzan & Lo Thesz.

Interestingly, the Wrestling Observer Newsletter inducted the veteran Indian wrestler in its Hall of Fame in 1996.

Dara Singh also made his mark in the showbiz world and is still known for his role of Hanuman in Ramanand Sagar's Ramayan. He was also part of several Bollywood films like Faulad, Sultana Daku, Mera Naam Joker, Mard, Jab We Met, Daku Mangal Singh, Anand and Dharmatma.
