Martina Hingis to retire from tennis after WTA Finals

Multiple grand slam winner Martina Hingis shall be bidding adieu to tennis after playing the WTA finals at the end of the year.The Swiss Miss' has been one of the top female tennis stars of her generation winning multiple grand slams, reaching the Number One ranking in both singles and doubles in her career.

Hingis is considered the best tennis to come out of Switzerland after Roger Federer. The 37-year-old Swiss, who along with Taipei's Yung-Jan Chan are the top-seeds in the BNP Paribas WTA Finals, had a stellar 2017 winning 19 matches on Thursday when they advanced to the semifinals.

Hingis rose to prominence in the international circuit when she won the Australian Open, Wimbledon and US Open aged just 15. Hingis went on to win two further Grand Slam singles titles, at the Australian Open in 1998 and 1999, only missing out at the French Open, where she finished runner-up in 1997 and 1999.

In the last-eight clash, Hingis-Chan, who enjoy a flawless 9-0 record in finals this season, beat the 20thranked German-Czech pairing of Anna-Lena Groenefeld and Kveta Peschke 6-3, 6-2.
