Roger Federer has been in sublime form and will face Japan’s Kei Nishikori for a place in the quarter-finals of Australian Open on Sunday.Tennis great Federer, who is making a comeback from a six-month injury break, defeated Tomas Berdych in just 90 minutes to set up a clash with Nishikori.
Kei Nishikori is currently the fifth seed in the world and will be targeting his first major title. On the other hand, 17th seed Federer is aiming for his 18th major title. Both the players have been in superb form and Novak Djokovic’s elimination has increased their chances.
Federer, when asked if Nishikori was the favourite due to his higher ranking, smiled: “Yeah, sure, he’s the favourite. Maybe.
“I don’t know. It doesn’t matter. I still have to play Kei. If he’s the favourite, I’m the favourite, I don’t know. But he’s definitely played better and more tennis in recent months.
