India's Sania Mirza and her doubles partner Barbora Strycova from Czech Republic advanced to the third round of the Wuhan Open tennis tournament in China after registering a hard-fought win over Gabriela Dabrowski and Maria Jose Martinez Sanchez.

The Indo-Czech pair, who won their second title last week at the Pan Pacific Open in Tokyo, edged out their Canadian-Spanish rivals 3-6, 6-3, 10-5 in the second round encounter that lasted for an hour and 15 minutes earlier in day.

Sania and Strycova will next take on the winners of the match between Timea Babos and Yaroslava Shvedova and Timea Bacsinszky and Svetlana Kuznetsova.

Sania had paired with Strycova at the Cincinnati Open for the first time after splitting with Swiss Martina Hingis. They have strung quite a good partnership, defeating Hingis and CoCo Vandeweghe in the final of Cincinnati Open.
