The year 2017 for Indian tennis sensation Sania Mirza has started on a bitter-sweet note. While she has won the Brisbane International tournament with her doubles partner Bethanie Mattek-Sands but at the same time, she has lost her WTP doubles number one position.

Ironically the person who has dethroned Sania at the ace position is none other than her doubles partner Bethanie Mattek-Sands.

The same sort of emotion was visible on Sania's face when she got know the fact that her double's partner has taken over her in the ranking. She was quite sporting about it and said, “I feel like I’m handing over the Miss World crown over to her,” she said, “We go a long way back, the last time we played together we won Sydney and this year we have won Brisbane, so maybe we should play more often.”

Notably, Sania Mirza has been ranked World no 1 in the double's ranking since 2015. Victory in Brisbane International helped the American tennis star surpass Sania after grabbing crucial 330 points after getting hands on the Brisbane International trophy.

Before partnering Bethanie Mattek-Sands, Sania played with Czech Republic's Barbora Strycova throughout the 2016 season. Before that the Indian tennis sensation has been immensely successful playing with former singles World no 1 Martina Hingis.

Fondly termed 'Santina', both the players won a number of Grand Slam titles and also created a record of most consecutive wins.
