Third seed was handed a crushing defeat Magdalena Rybarikova in the second round of the women's singles on Centre Court at Wimbledon on Thursday.
The Czech dubbed as one of the title contenders by tennis pundits was sent packing from the tournament. Pliskova became the second major seed to exit Wimbledon after former champion Petra Kvitova was shown the exit door by American M Brenglein in the second round.
Rybarikova battled back from a set down to beat the Czech star 3-6 7-5 6-3 to blow the women’s draw even more open than it already was at the All England Club. Pliskova reached the US Open last year and the French Open semi-finals last month, but the Czech world number three has a dismal record at Wimbledon and for the sixth successive year she failed to get past the second round.
