Swiss sensation Roger Federer on Sunday scripted history by winning his record 8th Wimbledon men’s singles title. Federer defeated Croatian Tennis player Marin Cilic to became the oldest Wimbledon singles champion in the Open Era.
“This tournament I've played, not dropping a set and holding the trophy - it's magical. It's too much really," Federer said after winning the historical Tennis game.
"I'll be gone again for the next six months if it keeps working out this fantastic when I come back!" he added.
"It's cruel sometimes but fought well and he's a hero. Congrats on a wonderful tournament," the Swiss Tennis star said.
Federer dedicated his record win to his family and said, "It's a wonderful moment for us as a family. This one's for us."
Third seed Federer defeated 7th seed Marin Cilic in straight sets with the score line reading 6-3, 6-1, 6-4.Federer made a world record by winning 8 Wimbledon men’s singles title leaving behind great Pete Sampras’s 7 titles.

Pete Sampras won 7 titles in the year 1993, 1994, 1995, 1997, 1998, 1999 and 2000. On the other hand, Federer has now won 5 back to back Wimbledon titles in the year 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007.
Roger had also won the men’s singles title at 2009 and 2012. But with this victory, Federer has become the greatest ever Tennis player with 8 Wimbledon titles, five Australian Open, five US Open and one French Open.
