Five-time Wimbledon champion Venus Williams shall be taking on Spain's Garbine Muguruza in the ladies singles finals at Wimbledon on Saturday. 

At 37, Venus Williams is aiming to become the oldest female champion at Wimbledon in the Open Era. Venus Williams had beaten Great Britain's Johanna Konta in the semis to book a place in the title clash. Williams' opponent in the finals is Garbine Muguruza who trounced unseeded M. Rybáriková in straight sets in their semifinal encounter.

The offensive baseliner Garbine Muguruzua shall pose a major threat to Venus' dream of winning a 6th singles title. Muguruza had come in striking distance of winning the Wimbledon title losing to Serena Williams in 2015 finals. The Spaniard would be looking to make amends and clinch her maiden title at Wimbledon.

Muguruza, who won the French Open last year, is aiming to become the first female Spanish player to win at Wimbledon since Conchita Martinez, her coach, in 1994. Williams has been one of the most successful female players at the All England Tennis and Croquet Club winning a stupendous 5 singles titles. Williams won the ladies singles crown in 2000, 2001, 2005, 2007 and 2008. Williams' last appearance in the finals at Wimbledon ended in a loss to sister Serena Williams. 

Williams has won seven Grand Slam titles in all and shall be looking to add another slam to her impressive silverware. Williams, one of the leading players of her generation had fallen from the top of the ladder after struggling from

Williams started 2017 with a bang, reaching the finals of the Australian Open.
