After a blockbuster edition of Monday night RAW, WWE presented the much-awaited episode of Smackdown from Dunkin Donuts Center in Providence. The blue brand wasted little time and added several new superstars from RAW and NXT to its roster.
The opening match of the latest edition of Smackdown Live featured a non-title bout between AJ Styles and Rusev. The WWE champion won the match via disqualification when Aiden English attacked him from behind.
Rusev and English continued to attack Styles until Daniel Bryan made the save. Smackdown’s new General Manager Paige announced a huge main-event tag match between the four superstars involved in the brawl.
Jeff Hardy who won the United States championship from Jinder Mahal on Monday became the newest member of Smackdown. The Charismatic Enigma faced Shelton Benjamin in a non-title match.
Interestingly, Benjamin had issued an open challenge to the Smackdown roster and said that he was one of the biggest threats on the blue brand. Randy Orton made his way to ring before Hardy ran past the Viper to answer the Golden Standard's challenge.
