Search engine giant Google today celebrated the 94th birth anniversary of Verghese Kurien, who is also known as the ‘Milkman of India’.
Kurein was also the man behind White revolution and Amul in India. The doodle shows the white revolution with milk can in the hands of the popular social entrepreneur, along with a cow standing nearby.
Kurien, was the man who turned India from milk-deficient country to the world’s largest milk producer, exceeding America in 1998 with about 17 percent of world’s output in 2010-11.
Due to his efforts, daily farming became India’s largest self-sustaining industry.
Verghese Kurien died on September 9, 2012 in Nadiad, Gujarat. He was 90 year-old.
