Facing stiff competition, Myntra’s website will shut down on May 1. The online fashion retailer will now concentrate on becoming only a mobile-based app retailer.
Notably, this will be the first such instance of an e-commerce player transforming into a mobile-only entity. The step also indicates the surge in internet usage over smartphones in India.
The first report of Myntra shutting down its website was reported on February 7. Flipkart acquired Myntra in 2014 for a whopping sum of Rs 2000.
Both Flipkart and Myntra have already closed down their mobile websites. The traffic is now directed towards their respective apps.
Mukesh Bansal, Myntra co-founder and head of commerce at Flipkart did not respond to media queries.
However, 360 degree marketing campaigns show that Myntra is in the mode to announce its app-only presence soon.
