People who love to chat on Facebook Messenger will now find the app filled with adverts as the social network will start pushing advertisements on those who are using the function.
Facebook told last week it tried advertising on Messenger app on a global basis. Facebook, which is the world’s largest social media company, is planning to monetise its messaging app. The app has 1.2 billion monthly users.
According to Facebook, the home tab of Messenger app will have all the adverts. When the user will click on these ads then they will either be taken to website of the advertiser or will be directed to a chat window where they can interact with the brand.
Previously businesses were allowed to chat with the Messenger users on a direct basis and could also send them sponsored content.
Before the move, Facebook performed initial tests in Australia and Thailand in January. This is a very important step by Facebook to continue to monetize its users that are there on its segregated platforms, namely Facebook, Messenger, Instagram, and WhatsApp. Only WhatsApp has no ads so far.
85 per cent of ad revenue to Facebook comes from mobile. But advertisements though main Facebook may not be seen anymore this year.
