Google has unveiled Android Go in order to make a budget Android platform for developing markets. It seems that the program has been developed in order to fill the void left by the Android One program.
Google has claimed that YouTube Go app has been its inspiration while developing Android Go. Android devices with less than 1GB of RAM will automatically get Android Go starting with Android O.
Further, devices with as little as 512 MB of memory will also be able to use it. Users will also get data management in Quick Settings, and an API will be made available to carriers to tap into this.
The operating system is tuned to work with lesser hardware as well as very limited network connectivity and small data plans.
Google is also set to release an Android Go variant for all future Android versions going forward.
While Android One hasn’t been the great success that Google hoped for since it’s announcement, Android Go could help the company enhance its customer base.
