India’s third largest telecom operator Airtel has now introduced new Rs 48 and Rs 98 plan to compete with Reliance Jio’s Rs 52 and Rs 98 plan. The new plans will be available and valid for all telecom circles. However, these plans are yet to feature on Airtel’s app but is available for recharge through third party recharge apps and website. Now, let us take a look at these plans rolled out by the operator in order to take on Mukesh Ambani’s owned Reliance Jio.

Airtel Rs 48 Plan – In this plan, the user gets 3GB of high-speed data for a validity period of 28 days. No calling or text messaging benefits are available with this pack.

Airtel Rs 98 Plan – The plan comes with 6GB of 3G/4G data for 28 days plus 10 free SMSes with the pack.

Airtel’s Rs 48 plan has been introduced these prepaid recharge plan to compete with Reliance Jio’s Rs 52 plan where the Jio user gets 150MB of per day data for a validity period of 7 days. It also offers 70 free SMS for the said period and the users will get free access to Jio suite of apps.

On the other hand, Airtel’s Rs 98 plan will be in direct competition with Reliance Jio’s Rs 98 plan which comes with 2GB of high-speed data for 28 days along with 100 SMS per day for the said period.

Recently, Reliance Jio claims to be ‘celebrating 300 million users’ which makes it the second largest telecom company in India beating Bharti Airtel. However, Vodafone-Idea still remains the number one telecom operator in terms of subscriber.

As per a report by Times of India, Jio now has a customer base of 306 million while Airtel has just 284 million subscriber which is 8 per cent less than the Reliance Jio.

Airtel has also achieved the milestone of 300 million subscriber but in its 19th year.

As per a latest report by Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), the leading telecom operator Vodafone-Idea has lost almost 5.78 million subscribers in the beginning of 2019, reducing it to 409.3 million users by the end of February.
