Airtel’s over-the-top music application, Wynk Music, announced on Monday that it has crossed 75 million app installations.
Wynk app, which was launched in 2014, the Airtel Wynk Music platform has a collection of over three million songs, including music in 12 Indian regional languages.
Music in languages like Tamil, Telugu, Punjabi and Kannada had accounted for a major growth of the app within the regional diaspora.
The company said, “While overall music from Bollywood continued to rule, it was Indian regional music streams on Wynk that stole the show and grew by over 100 percent.”

Streaming of remixed versions of Bollywood classics continued to contribute three per cent to the overall growth of the platform.
Airtel also highlighted that 13 per cent of the active users came from rural part of India, thus contributing 10 per cent to the overall growth of the music platform.
