New Delhi:

The process of booking a ride after comparing fares on different cab-hailing apps can be a cumbersome experience at times. During the time a customer switches apps for checking fares after comparing different cab services such as Ola and Uber, it’s generally seen that the prices rise, costing extra money. Now, the user doesn't need to worry about the same as Nitin Rawat, a 35-year-old physicist in the US has made a mobile-based application - 'Alpha: Cab Compare'. This app compares the fares of major cab services such as Ola and Uber on a single platform. This saves users' money as they can avoid surge and book cabs at the lowest fare.

Rawat, a mechanical engineering graduate from Punjab Engineering College (PEC), said comparing the price, avoiding surge, checking availability, and getting a fare estimate prior to booking are some other features of the app.

According to Rawat, there are certain apps that provide the option of comparing fares but no one of them allows you to book cabs and this is one of the things which has been addressed in 'Alpha: Cab Compare'. "Alpha aims to help the daily office-goers and other customers by comparing real-time rates across the cab-hailing apps on a single platform. It's a helpful and efficient way to avoid surge pricing on cab booking. The company is in search of seed funding to invest in its future growth," Rawat said.

Alpha app is available for download on Google Play Store

33-year-old Nitin, an equity advisor at a financial firm based out of Chandigarh, is the co-founder of this app. The app, which provides a real-time comparison of ride rates, is available on Google Play Store and people having Android smartphones running 5.0 versions or above can use it.

According to Rawat, they spend around Rs 3 lakh in developing this app. Initially, it has been launched only in India but it will be soon made available in the global market.
