Apple unveiled RED special edition of iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus along with its matching accessories. A company will release the special crimson iPhone edition which is also one of the sponsors of RED organisation that runs life-saving HIV AIDS program in Africa.
As per the reports, the sub-Saharan region of Africa is the home of more than two-thirds of World’s HIV-positive population in the world.
Apple donates a portion of income from RED iPhones directly to global HIV/AIDS funds which contributes towards many prevention programs.
Deborah Dugan, CEO of RED said, "The more than $160 million Apple has donated in the last 11 years today equates to more than 800 million days of life-saving ARV medication that prevents the transmission of HIV from mothers to their babies’’.
‘’We're honored that Apple has dedicated its resources to our purpose, and can't wait to see customers bring our mission to life through the purchase of iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus (Product) Red Special Edition’’, he added.
Now, let’s take a look at some of the key features of Apple iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus
Apple iPhone 8(RED) – It has 4.7-inch HD LCD Retina IPS display with a resolution of 1334x750 and a pixel density of 336 ppi. The handset runs on Apple IOS 11 with improved Siri (Voice Assistant) and a 64-bit class Apple 11 Bionic chip with Embedded M11 motion coprocessor.
It has 12-megapixel rear camera with Optical Image Stabilisation and Digital Zoom up to 5x. It sports a 7-megapixel FaceTime HD camera with f/2.2 aperture. It will be available in two variants, 64GB which is priced at Rs 67,940 and 256GB for Rs 81,500.
Apple iPhone 8 Plus(RED) – It has a 5-5-inch LCD Retina HD IPS display with a resolution of 1920x1080 pixels and a pixel density of 401 ppi.
It has the same processor and operating system as iPhone 8 but will come with larger 3GB RAM with a storage capacity of 64GB and 256GB.
The handset will come with the same camera specifications as that of iPhone 8 apart from the aperture which will be f/2.4 with dual-Optical Image Stabilisation and Digital zoom up to 10x.
The 64GB version will be available at Rs 77,560 and 256GB variant at Rs 91,110.
