Taiwanese tech major Asus is all set to launch ROG Phone 2 in India. The launch event is going to be held on September 23 at a special event in New Delhi. The teaser page for the smartphone is already live on Flipkart, indicating that the Asus POG Phone 2 will be exclusive for the e-commerce giant. The smartphone was unveiled globally in July and the India launch was much awaited. Reports suggest that Asus ROG Phone 2 will cost around Rs 71,500 for the standard edition and around Rs 95,000 for the high-end version. However, Asus has not given any official confirmation on the price of the smartphone.
“The ROG Phone II is all set to revolutionise smartphone gaming forever and knockout other flagships. 23rd September is the day when the ROG Phone II will quench the thirst for the ultimate weapon (sic),” Asus India Tweeted.
Asus ROG Phone 2 has the ultimate Snapdragon 855 Plus chipset and the smartphone offers up to 12GB RAM and 256GB storage. In terms of display, the ROG Phone 2 has 120 Hz 6.59-inch FHD+ display with 2,340 x 1,080 pixels.
On the camera front, ROG Phone 2’s rear camera set-up comprises a 48-megapixel primary camera and a 13-megapixel ultrawide camera. For selfies, there is a 24-megapixel shooter.
The ROG Phone 2 has a powerful 6000mAh battery with fast charging support system. The smartphone features a 3D cooling chamber with a vent to sustain peak performance.
Connectivity options are expected to include Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ad, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, AGPS, Glonass, USB Type-C port, NFC, and 3.5mm jack. ROG Phone measures 158.8x76.2x8.6mm and weighs 200 grams.
Earlier, Asus had said that it expects to clock 60 per cent growth in consumer PC business in India during the second half of the year on the back strong demand for its gaming and thin-and-light notebooks.
"The consumer PC market declined by about 19 per cent (as per industry estimates) but we grew 32 per cent in the first half. We are seeing strong growth in the gaming and thin-and-light categories, and we expect our growth in the second half to be 60 per cent," Asus India Business Development Manager (PC and Gaming) Arnold Su had said.
