Facebook may soon launch a modular smartphone as there are reports suggesting that a new patent was registered in the company’s name that describes modular devices.
Modular smartphones are the ones that may allow users to upgrade hardware by simply changing the old parts with the new. Users may also be able to customize the phones as per their preferences. Apart from this, there’s also an option which will allow them to add extra sensors, batteries and upgrade/better their phones’ camera.

But it is still a dream phone as several attempts were made in the past to make such a phone. Even Google had once tried to make this miracle phone but failed in the end. Google’s ‘Project Ara’ was a huge disappointment for them.
Talking about modular devices, they are the ones that could incorporate a variety of parts including microphones, touch display, speakers, GPS and much more.
It is not the first time that Facebook has decided to make a phone. The social networking site had tried to make a regular device in the past but in collaboration with the HTC. But that project was not less than a disaster.
