Samsung India to hire 1,000 engineering graduates in 2018

The Korean tech firm Samsung plans to hire 1,000 Indian engineering graduates in 2018 to develop its artificial intelligence and other developing projects.

Samsung will hire the graduates from top engineering institutes of the country. The company plans to hire 300 graduates solely from various branches of IITs. 

The Korean company will also hire from IIIT, BITS Pilani, Delhi College of Engineering and Manipal Institute of Technology.

A majority of these graduates will be hired for domains like Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), biometrics, Internet of Things (IoT), natural language processing, augmented reality and networks including 5G.

Dipesh Shah, Samsung Global SVP and MD of Samsung Research and Development (R&D) Institute of India, Bengaluru said, "Samsung is extremely bullish on R&D in India. We have been here for over 22 years. The three R&D centres in India work on several cutting-edge technologies."

He added that Indian centres do not only work for Indian consumers but also contribute globally.

Shah also said "Samsung R&D centres of India have worked on several global products of Samsung, including the high-end camera modules for flagship smartphones, intelligent interface Bixby that was launched with Galaxy S8 and Samsung Pay."

Last year, the company had hired 800 graduates for its R&D centres, out of which 300 were employed from the IITs.

Samsung's R&D centres are set up in 3 cities, namely Bengaluru, Noida and Delhi, Bengaluru being the largest centre outside Korea. It has a total number of 32 centres all over the world.

The Bengaluru centre expertise in the areas of AI, ML and IoT, while the Noida centre expertise in biometrics, development of mobile software, multimedia, and data security.

The Delhi centre's primary expertise is Samsung's operating system, Tizen as well as research related to high- end televisions and other electronic products.
