Google recently released dark mode on Google Chrome with the latest update, Chrome 74. Dark mode is available for Windows, Mac, Linux, Chrome OS, and Android users.
In a statement, Google stated that dark mode will be widely available soon but till then Android users can enable this feature on their devices through a workaround. Google further confirmed that the dark mode helps saves battery life on smartphones.
Importantly, the dark mode feature is available through Chrome flags, the experimental site for unreleased features. Google Chrome app should be updated to the latest version for this feature to work.

- As soon as the page opens, type ‘Android Chrome’ in the text bar.
- Then set the option to ‘enabled’ for Android Chrome UI dark mode.
- Once you change this, click on the option to relaunch Chrome.

The search giant will soon launch system-wide dark mode with the upcoming Android Q. Apple is also expected to roll out dark mode for iPhones with iOS 13 which will be announced next month at WWDC 2019.
Interestingly, apps like Twitter, Messenger and YouTube already offer dark mode on their platforms. On the other hand, WhatsApp is also testing dark mode on its app.
