Google on Tuesday unveiled its ‘Make in India’ initiative in its first ever App Excellence Summit for Android app developers in Bengaluru. Now, the Android users will be able to find apps that are relevant to them. It will be showcased under a special section on the ‘Play Store’.

More than 700 Android developers attended the Summit wherein Google officials guided them the process of designing local relevant apps. The Google Play Director (Business Development, Games & Applications) Purnima Kochikar said that Google is committed to help Indian developers and making Android consumers aware of the amazing new experiences.

“At Google Play, we are committed to helping Indian developers of all sizes seize this opportunity and build successful, locally relevant businesses. A lot of what we do at Google Play is support developers’ imaginations and make Android consumers aware of the amazing new experiences our developers are creating,” Kochikar said.

The Google made a startling fact that more than 90 per cent of people in India, who have smartphones are Android users and that they install over billion apps every month from the ‘Play Store’.

"We've also taken away a lot of friction, and today Indian users have the option of paying via carrier billing, through cash by buying gift cards or with wallets," Kochikar added.
