Facebook-owned Instagram on Sunday rolled out a new feature for its users wherein the users will be alerted if someone takes a screenshot of their story.

The feature, which is similar to that of SnapChat, will aware the user if their friend takes a screenshot of their story. A shutter-shaped icon will be featured next to the user’s name who has clicked a screenshot of your story.

A primitive warning before taking the screenshot appears on the user’s app when trying to click. “Next time you take a screenshot or screen recording, the person who posted the story will be able to see,” the warning message will read.

However, there are several other ways to click a screenshot of your story and still be unknown. If the person takes a screenshot of your story with their phone set on airplane mode, then you might not get to know about the screenshot.

Apart from this, third-party applications, like Story Reposter, can also resort to pull off the screenshot trick.

The new feature is being slowly rolled out for users across the whole world. If the update has not come to you, then it will soon be available for you.

Many new features have been pulled off by the images and video-sharing platform lately. In January, the platform enabled activity status in the direct messages section of the app. This feature lets the users to see the last time someone among their followers were active within the app.
