Lexus India has launched its all new LS Luxury sedan in the Indian market with a price starting from Rs 1.77 crore (ex-showroom).
The Lexus LS 500h will be available from April this year in three variants namely – Luxury, Ultra Luxury and the Distinct with the price topping to Rs. 1.94 crore.
The new sedan runs on a hybrid system comprising of a 3.51-litre V6 petrol engine along with two electric motors which churns out a power of 350 PS.
It has 10-speed automatic transmission and it can achieve 0-100 kmph in just 5.2 seconds. It is powered by 84 cells lithium-ion battery.
Lexus LS 500h will mark to be the fifth luxury car in the country after NX 300h which was launched last month. Like other Lexus cars in India, LS 500h will also come as CBU(Completely Built Unit).
The Hybrid sedan is the fifth-generation model and is based on the new GA-L platform.
The luxury sedan is the fourth Hybrid car from the company till now. Speaking about hybrid and electic mobility in the future, N Raja – Chairman of Lexus India said, "Taxation structure did slow down the sales of hybrids but it is now slowly picking up’’.
Lexus LS 500h is in direct competition with Mercedes-Benz S Class, BMW 7 series and Audi A8.
