LG G8X ThinQ, which is a successor to the LG G8 ThinQ and the LG G8s ThinQ, has recently arrived in India. Interestingly, the newly-launched phone has a detachable screen. On the competition front in India, LG G8X ThinQ is up against OnePlus 7T Pro McLaren Edition. LG G8X ThinQ

LG G8X ThinQ comes equipped with a 6.4-inch FHD+ (1080x2340 pixels) FullVision display with 19.5:9 aspect ratio and 403ppi pixel density. According to a report of NDTV’S Gadgets 360, the device is attached to a second screen with a similar resolution and a 2.1-inch mono display in the front that displays information such as date, time and battery life and notifications. It is a detachable display that connects to the phone via the USB Type-C port, and has a 360-degree freestop hinge. The device further has an in-display fingerprint sensor, and a small waterdrop-shaped display notch on the front.

LG G8X ThinQ runs on Android Pie and is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 855 SoC, supported by 6GB of RAM. The device has an internal storage of 128GB which can be expanded using a microSD card (up to 2TB).

On the imaging front, LG G8X ThinQ comes equipped with a dual rear camera setup that houses a 12-megapixel primary camera sensor with f/1.8 aperture along with a 13-megapixel secondary shooter with super wide-angle lens and a f/2.4 aperture. On the front, the smartphone sports a 32-megapixel camera with f/1.9 aperture.

The device packs a 4,000mAh battery with support for Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0. The smartphone further has two 1.2W speakers, a 32-bit Hi-Fi Quad DAC which is tuned by Meridian Audio that promises exceptional sound quality. The phone measures 159.3x75.8x8.4mm, and weighs 192 grams. Also, it comes with IP68 water and dust resistance, supports HDR10, and is MIL-STD 810G compliant.

Connectivity options on the phone include Wi-Fi 802.11 ac, Bluetooth v5, NFC, USB Type-C, and more. The LG G8X ThinQ supports Google Lens. The price for LG G8X ThinQ in India has been set at Rs 49,999. The phone is available in a single Aurora Black colour option.

OnePlus 7T Pro McLaren Edition

OnePlus 7T Pro McLaren Edition boasts a design that has the British racing brand's iconic 'papaya' orange accents and charger set, a different rear panel design, and a case designed with composite fabric material Alcantara. The smartphone also features exclusive animations, themes, and wallpapers. For notifications, the Horizon Light has an orange option and custom made icons.

OnePlus 7T Pro McLaren Edition sports a 6.67-inch (1440x3120 pixels) Fluid AMOLED display with 516ppi pixel density, 90Hz refresh rate, 3D Corning Gorilla Glass protection and 19.5:9 aspect ratio.

OnePlus 7T Pro McLaren Edition supports dual-SIM (Nano) technology and runs on Android 10 based on OxygenOS 10.0. The premium smartphone is powered by the 2.96GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 855+ SoC paired with Adreno 640 GPU and 12GB RAM. It offers 256GB UFS 3.0 storage with no option to expand it further.

On the imaging front, OnePlus 7T Pro McLaren Edition comes equipped with a triple rear camera setup in a horizontal layout. The phone’s triple rear camera setup houses a 48-megapixel Sony IMX586 primary sensor, with an f/1.6 aperture, 1.6-micron pixels (4-in-1), optical image stabilisation (OIS), electronic image stabilisation (EIS). Whereas, the secondary camera features a 3x telephoto lens with an 8-megapixel sensor, an f/2.4 aperture, and 1.0-micron pixels. The third camera is an ultra-wide-angle lens with a 16-megapixel sensor, an f/2.2 aperture, and a 117-degree field of view. It is worth mentioning here that the rear camera setup is accompanied by a dual-LED flash module.

On the front, OnePlus 7T Pro McLaren Edition features a 16-megapixel Sony IMX471 selfie sensor. The selfie camera sensor has 1-micron pixels, an f/2.0 aperture, and EIS.

OnePlus 7T Pro McLaren Edition packs a 4,085mAh battery and it supports Warp Charge 30T fast charging technology. Connectivity options on the premium phone include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth v5.0, NFC, GPS/ A-GPS, and a USB Type-C (v3.1 Gen 1) port.

The device measures 162.6x75.9x8.8 mm and weighs 206 grams. Lastly, it has an in-display fingerprint scanner. The price for the lone 12GB RAM + 256GB storage variant in India has been set at Rs 58,999.
