Offering high speed data at handy price can prove to be a masterstroke for any telecom company and the perfect example of such success story is Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Jio. The telecom company became the fastest growing operator in just few months because it came up with the idea of providing high-speed internet at economical costs.

Earlier, users had to pay as much as Rs 250 for one GB of high-speed data but now it is easily accessible for an amount as low as Rs 2 per gigabyte.

As per a report by price comparison site cable.co.uk, Indian pay an average of just Rs 1GB of data which is quite low as compared to the global average of Rs 600.

Even, United Kingdom and United States of America are behind in terms of cheaper high-speed data with Rs 473 and Rs 873 approximately for 1GB data respectively.

The country with most expensive mobile data is Zimbabwe where 1GB of high-speed data can costs upto Rs 5,339 approximately, as per the report.

The report reads, "A country whose young population has a particularly high technological awareness, India offers a vibrant smartphone market, with strong adoption and many competitors. Data, therefore, is quite staggeringly cheap’’.

In the study, researchers collected and analysed from 6,313 mobile data plans from 230 countries October 23 to November 28, 2018. For India, researchers took 57 plans and found that the 1GB of high-speed data is available for as low as Rs 1.41 and a maximum of Rs 98.83.

Indian smartphone market is the second biggest in the world after China with almost 430 million users.

Apart from India, there are several other countries as well with cheaper mobile data plans including Kyrgyzstan $0.27 (Rs 19.1 approx), Kazakhstan $0.49 (Rs 34.7 approx), Ukraine $0.51 (Rs 36.2 approx) and Rwanda $0.56 (Rs 39.7 approx)
