OnePlus launched its new flagship smartphone, OnePlus 5 in India on Thursday. The handset was officially unveiled at an event in Mumbai, which commenced at 2:00 pm. The first sale of the handset will be held later in the day at 4.30PM, exclusively on Amazon India. The launch event is being live-streamed via company's YouTube channel here.
OnePlus 5 was officially announced for the global markets on Tuesday and its co-founder claims that the handset has become company's fastest selling device ever. The handset is available via pop-up stores in select markets and will be widely available starting June 27. In India, the launch event will be followed by pop-up events in New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Bengaluru, where consumers can purchase the smartphone offline.
The OnePlus 5 is expected to be priced at Rs 32,999 for the version with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage and at Rs 37,999 for the variant with a whopping 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. While the OnePlus 5 is expected to be pricier than the OnePlus 3T, the price increase seems justified as it is a more rounded smartphone that comes with better hardware and more features.
