OnePlus released its latest smartphone, OnePlus 6T, on Monday in New York. The smartphone will be launched in India on Tuesday. With an in-display fingerprint scanner, a  larger battery, a larger display, a smaller notch, improved low-light photography, Android 9.0 Pie out-of-the-box, a better-endowed base model, and Smart Boost optimisation, the Chinese company is all set to demonstrate a tough competition in the market. Here are all the specifications that you need to know about the new OnePlus phone.

OnePlus 6T: Price and availability

The price of OnePlus 6T is expected to be higher than its recent release, OnePlus 6. The price of the phone is estimated to be Rs 37,999, according to reports. Although the phone will be released on Tuesday, it will be available in the first week of November. The previous release, OnePlus 6 is available in India at a starting price of Rs 34,999 for the base model with 6GB RAM and 64GB storage. Note that there’s also an OnePlus 6 Avengers Edition which is available at Rs 44,999 which offers 8GB RAM and 256GB storage.

OnePlus 6T specifications:

In-screen fingerprint technology

The latest addition to OnePlus phones brings with it in-screen fingerprint technology. This technology lets you unlock the phone by just tapping on the screen.

OnePlus on its website states, “It all starts with a new optical fingerprint module, which houses a small lens that can accurately register your fingerprint as it presses down on the cover glass. The screen is used as a light source to enhance the outline of your fingerprint, enabling the sensor to accurately read its exact dimensions and shape.”

Design

The waterdrop/teardrop notch will cover just the front camera on the screen. It can also be seen on other phones like Realme 2 Pro and Vivo 11 Pro. The phone is expected to arrive with a slimmer form factor as well.

No 3.5mm headphone jack

The smartphone joins the list of phones to abandon 3.5mm headphone jack. The users of OnePlus 6T will have to make use of Type-C port and Bluetooth connectivity for audio over headphones/earphones. The CEO Pete Lau exclaims this as one of the most difficult decisions and said, “After you experience the Screen Unlock you’ll fall in love with it. realize that it’s the experience that you wanted.”

Other Specifications

OnePlus 6T will be dual-SIM (Nano) with OxygenOS-based on Android 9.0 Pie. The smartphone will run on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 processor along with a larger 3,700mAh battery.

The picture quality of the phone will be enhanced from the previous models and will have improved features. The mobile will offer users options to tweak photos as per their choices

CEO Pete Lau in a forum post last week wrote, “With smartphone cameras, the smartphone itself is like the film stock. Let me explain: when you take a photo with your smartphone, the smartphone is pulling raw data from the camera sensor. It then interprets and compresses this data, creating an image file that’s convenient to share and send, and broadly accessible on all devices.”

“However, certain in-camera processing can hurt the final quality of the image. You can only do so much to correct an overly sharpened image. Excessive noise reduction can be permanent when applied in-camera. As with anything, moderation is key. A light touch is all that’s needed,” he added.
