Realme 5i, the successor to Realme 3i smartphone, is all set to be launched in India on January 9. It is to be noted that the launch of Realme 5i has been confirmed by Realme CEO Madhav Sheth as well as Flipkart.
In a recent tweet, Realme CEO Madhav Sheth said, “Guys, introducing #realme5i our new edition to the highly appreciated #realme5series! Launching on 9th Jan. at 12:30 PM RT, if you are excited.”

On the other hand, the listing for Realme 5i on Flipkart suggested that the smartphone will be a battery and camera-centric offering. According to Flipkart, the device will pack a large 5,000mAh battery and as many as four cameras at the pack. The camera setup will include an ultra-wide-angle lens with f/1.8 aperture lens, primary lens, portrait lens, and macro lens.
Meanwhile, Realme 5i was unveiled in Vietnam on Monday (January 6, 2020). The base variant with 3GB RAM + 32GB storage variant of Realme 5i in Vietnam has been set at VND 3,690,000 (approx. Rs 11,500), while the 4GB RAM + 64GB storage model costs VND 4,290,000 (approx. Rs 13,500). It comes in Blue and Green colour options.
Realme 5i features a 6.5-inch HD+ (720 x 1600 pixels) display with a waterdrop notch, 1200:1 contrast ratio, and Corning Gorilla Glass 3+ for protection. The smartphone supports dual-SIM technology and runs Android Pie with ColorOS 6.0.1 on top. Realme 5i is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 SoC paired with up to 4GB of RAM.
On the imaging front, Realme 5i comes equipped with a quad rear camera setup that houses a 12-megapixel camera with an f/1.8 aperture. The primary camera is assisted by an 8-megapixel wide-angle camera with an f/2.25 lens and a 118.9-degree viewing angle, a 2-megapixel portrait camera, and a 2-megapixel macro camera with 4cm close-up range. On the front, there is an 8-megapixel camera with an f/2.0 aperture.
The device packs a 5,000mAh battery with support for 10W charging. The smartphone offers up to 64GB of onboard storage that can further be expanded via a microSD card (up to 256GB).
Connectivity options on the phone include 4G LTE, Bluetooth 5.0, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, and GPS. Sensors onboard the Realme 5i are a compass, ambient light sensor, proximity sensor, accelerometer, gyroscope, and fingerprint sensor for authentication. The new Realme phone measures 164.4 x 75 x 9.3mm and weighs 195 grams.
