Reliance Jio has suspended the pre-booking of its much awaited 4G feature phone Jio Phone on its website. Jio Phone pre-bookings commenced on Thursday from 5 PM and the 4G feature phone will be delivered to consumers in September on first-come, first-serve basis.
Jio had offered customers the option of booking the device through the offline channels through Jio retailers and multi-brand device retailers including the Reliance Digital stores network.
Though it is not clear whether the Jio phone is available offline or not. However, Jio didn't respond to the queries on this issue.
As per the media reports, Jio phone bookings had already crossed 3 million marks within a couple of hours from opening. According to the executives in trade channels, the number likely to be several times higher by the close of the day.
The Jio Phone has a 2.4-inch display with QVGA display, microSD card slot, torch light, FM radio, and an alphanumeric keypad for input. It supports voice commands and 22 Indian languages and has a panic button as well.
For Jio Phone, the company has launched the new Rs. 153 plan, which provides unlimited data (high-speed 4G data capped at 500MB per day), free calls and SMSes, and access to Jio apps.
Buyers will need to purchase the Rs. 309 recharge to connect the phone to the TV, and watch content on the big screen. There are also sachet packs priced at Rs. 24 (2-day validity) and Rs. 54 (7-day validity).
