Reliance JioPhone, which has been ruling the Indian market since its launch in July 2017, is finally getting WhatsApp support, according to a report at WABetaInfo.
Yes, if latest media reports turn out to be true, WhatsApp will soon join social media king Facebook, which made its official app available for Jio phone users.
While the budget phone has disrupted other industry biggies like Samsung, Sony, Micromax, Xiaomi and others with its appearance, users have been complaining about the lack of WhatsApp support on the device.
Going by the latest speculations, WhatsApp, the instant messaging platform is working on a new app for KaiOS. KaiOS ia a linux-based OS that powers the Reliance JioPhone.
As per claims made by WABetaInfo, a native KaiOS app is being found in the latest WhatsApp beta, which simply means that the 4G VoLTE-enabled feature phone is going to get support for the world's most popular messaging app anytime soon.

However, neither Reliance Jio, nor WhatsApp has made any official announcement yet.
On the other hand, KaiOS Technologies had announced partnerships with a few tech giants like Facebook, Twitter, Qualcomm and Google during the annual Mobile World Congress (MWC) last month. The 4G feature phone recently gained support for Google Assistant, a voice-enabled personal assistant developed by Google.

Realince JioPhone is said to be one of the top-selling feature phones in the fourth quarter of 2017. The 4G VoLTE-enabled feature phone is priced at a mouth-watering amount of Rs 1,500 as before. This amount is being called a security deposit and customers will get a complete refund after three years.
Talking about the specifications, the budget device sports a 2.4-inch display with a resolution of 240x320 pixels. It is powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core processor clubbed with 512MB RAM. The back camera on the Reliance Jio Phone is a 2-MP snapper while the gadget is having a 0.3MP front shooter. The feature phone is powered with a 2000mAh battery.
