Several tech savvies across the globe have faced some technical glitches on their WhatsApp this morning, as the application had become ‘obsolete’.

However, the company has already acknowledged the error message and the issue is being fixed.

“This is an issue that’s being fixed. It was a problem with how our app is distributed, which is not under our control,” a WhatsApp spokesperson said.

Earlier, a number of WhatsApp users complained that, their screen shows a message stating the application is on an obsolete version. The app store has even failed to provide any update after they clicked on the update version option.

This version of WhatsApp became obsolete on 13-Jan-2018. Please go to the Google Play Store to download the latest version,” read the error message.

According to reports, the users of Xiaomi smartphones have mostly become the victims of the bug. On the other hand, a report in Hindustan Times suggests that a similar problem had occurred earlier as well.

Users who are still facing the technical glitch on their WhatsApp application may go through the following steps to fix the same.

Check out the steps:

Settings > enable automatic date and time > automatic time zone > kill all apps > relaunch WhatsApp.

If the above steps fail to fix the issue for your device, you need to uninstall the app and download the latest version of the app from WhatsApp’s website. But mere uninstalling and installing of the application may cause the loss of your previous data if you haven't set the data synchronization to daily.
